Several top British bred horses have had a strong start to the 2012 season, with convincing performances across Europe in eventing and dressage.

Eventers abroad

The eventing season kicked off with excellent CCI three-star results for two British bred horses; Kristina Cook with Miners Frolic and Vittoria Panizzon with Borough Penny Z.

Former European Champion and reigning Olympic bronze medallist Miners Frolic, took third place in the CCI three-star at Ballindenisk, to secure 2012 Olympic qualification.

The British bred phenomenon Woodlander Farouche continued to dominate the breeding world with a recent win at the 2011 FEI World Breeding Championships for young dressage horses at Verden.

Unbeatable mare 

The impressive mare first won the five-year-old preliminary class with a score of 9.28, followed by the five-year-old World Championship with another superb score of 9.72.

Recently I have felt like the M1 has become my new best friend, with H&C projects taking me up and down the country on numerous occasions this week. But when my destination is the Para Dressage Winter Championships, or the ‘Dean Dibsdall: Model Farrier' filming shoot - I really can’t complain.

"This weekend was a first for 'Rudall’s Round-up', as the team started filming for our upcoming polo special. Our first port of call was Hickstead, which was hosting the Arena Test match – England vs the USA. The chance to watch international polo stars in action was too good an opportunity to miss.

"So March is here and after I won £1000 on a very lucky scratch card, I decided to make good use of the money and went skiing in Andorra for a weekend break. The snow was not as good as it is in the Alps, but there were plenty of slopes to choose from. It was quite a cheap resort, the food and drink was very reasonable, and there was plenty of good nightlife!

British Eventing’s Baileys Jumping and Style (JAS) series ended this weekend, with 200 riders taking part in the final at Addington on Saturday 25 February. 

BE90 winner

With the winner of each section earning a free lesson given by former World and Olympic gold medallist Blyth Tait, the competition was fierce.
