Darby Ward (16yrs) from Alderley Edge, Cheshire produced one of the only two double clears in the jump off of seven combinations to secure a British Win in the CSIOP Grand Prix in Moorsele on Carolyn Nevinson’s pony Maradonna.

 

In a class that saw almost fifty competitors take part in the hope of winning their share of the €200,000 prize money on offer it was Nick Skelton with Beverley Widdowson’s 11-year-old grey gelding Carlo who took the top spot.

 

The competition, held with a backdrop of two Royal Homes – Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace, which has been recreated as an elaborate stage in the Castle Arena for the Diamond Jubilee Pageant held on the showground each evening

 

With the unfortunate cancellation of both Badminton and Chatsworth International Horse Trials, the British Eventing Senior Championship Selection Committee have made the decision to delay the selection of British eventing athletes for the 2012 Olympic Games.
